Australian businesses have lost of choices for providers of online data back-up services. But for most businesses the data limits or bandwidth restrictions set by their ISP are a very important factor. Which is why a new service from Sydney based BackMii might be worth a look.
Called BackMii Express the service lets your initial back-up be done directly onto a BackMii provided hard drive, instead of over the Internet.
The BackMii hard drive contains specialist encryption and archiving software and is delivered to the customer company by courier.
Once the back-up is done, and the hard drive returned to the BackMii, the customer company’s data is uploaded directly on to BackMii’s storage servers.
Subsequent incremental daily backups, which are much smaller, can then be done over the Internet in the usual way and without threatening data or bandwidth limits.
BackMii claims several other distinctive features for its services, including storage in triplicate, and access to daily back-ups for the previous 60 days at no extra charge.
The service will no doubt be attractive to the growing number of local online business owners needing to keep their company’s digital customer records and files for the 7 years required by the Tax office.
CEO and Co-founder Vanessa Wilson said that Backmii’s online archiving solution is its big advantage in the local marketplace.
”BackMii’s big advantage over most providers is that we offer online archiving. So with the click of a button, you can keep automatic daily versions of your digital backup forever, or as long as you choose. Even if you have deleted a file off your computer months or years ago, you can easily get it back from your BackMii archive, via the Internet.”
She said the company offers three different levels of service in addition to the Express direct hard drive back-up service. They are BackMii Home for consumers, BackMii Pro for small to medium businesses and BackMii archiving for home or business users who wish to keep their backed up data for either an unlimited or a specific length of time.
